After reading your comments on my previous post The Dreaded Playcentre, I think we all agree that the majority of playcentres in Australia and just plain shite. I can count on one hand the cafe's in a 20 km radius of my house that are remotely suitable or stimulating for little ones. Most seem to struggle with the basic concept of high chairs.
Travel a little further afar (across the Pacific Ocean) and you do however find a few gems. One such gem is a New York based MOOMAH.
While not really a playcentre by any stretch of the imagination, this is the kind of creative space that inner city Melbourne is just calling out for.
To give you a little overview from the website:
A place of whimsy, wonder and warmth, Moomah is a creative playspace, a cozy cafe, a living classroom, a a quiet hideaway, an art oasis, your neighbourhood meeting spot, Your favourite place to be together and a place for child to simply be.
And some visual inspiration:

I love that Moomah has a focus on creative play derived from nature - classes include an Art & Nature series, Glow in the dark Yoga 'Gloga' for kids, Song based story telling and my favourite - Seedlings Group (workshops and meeting space for new mums)..
Now... does anyone out there have a spare million bucks, plenty of time and a desire to get this baby going here in Melbourne with me? Anyone?
PS - If you cant help with the above, I would even just be grateful if someone could tell me how to make pics on my blog bigger? Ta!
